UZH and the other 22 members of the League of European Research Universities (LERU) examine implicit gender bias as one significant explanation of the loss of female talent in Implicit bias in academia: A challenge to the meritocratic principle – and what to do about it (PDF, 310 KB) (LERU paper).
UZH is proud to have hosted the Second LERU Gender Conference on 14 - 15 June 2018.
The disproportional loss of female talent in academia is evident and systematic almost without exception across disciplines, faculties, universities, and countries. This was an exciting opportunity to think and talk to each other about why this happens, and ways to stop it.
The conference on the one hand served to disseminate and discuss this LERU paper with a large audience representing various stakeholders, and on the other hand it served to explore and illuminate the phenomenon of bias and its effects on research-performing organizations and on the people within them.
