Die Philosophische Fakultät der Universität Zürich lud Frau Prof. Dr. Alice Eagly im Rahmen der Hedi Fritz-Niggli Gastprofessur ein.
Alice Eagly ist Professorin für Psychologie an der Northwestern University (Illinois, USA) und bekleidet dort mehrere Positionen:
In ihrer früheren Laufbahn war Alice Eagly ebenfalls an der Michigan State Universität, an der Massachusetts Amherst Universität, und an der Purdue Universität tätig. Sie ist Mitglied der American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Alice Eagly studierte an der Harvard Universität und promovierte 1965 an der Michigan Universität. Als Sozialpsychologin umfassen ihre Forschungsinteressen u.a. die Themen Gender, Feminismus, Einstellungen, Vorurteile, Stereotype und Führung. Ihre Arbeit umfasst Grundlagenforschung sowie die Durchführung von Metaanalysen.
Alice Eagly hat mehr als 200 Artikel und Buchkapitel veröffentlicht sowie eine Vielzahl an Büchern verfasst, unter anderem The Psychology of Attitudes (mit Shelley Chaiken) oder Through the Labyrinth: The Truth About How Women Become Leaders (mit Linda Carli).
Für ihr wissenschaftliches Werk wurde Alice Eagly mehrfach ausgezeichnet:
I am fortunate to have spent a period of time at the University of Zurich as a Hedi Fritz-Niggli visiting professor. I appreciated the warm welcome from the colleagues in psychology and the gender equality office. Thanks go to Dean and Professor Klaus Jonas and Ph.D. student Levke Henningsen for facilitating my visit.
I welcomed the opportunity to give a seminar on gender and leadership for an interested group of Ph.D. students from Zurich and several other universities. Also, I enjoyed giving several other talks and discussing their themes with those who attended. Last but not least, I enjoyed the experience living for a while in Zurich, a beautiful and culturally rich city.
